56 years old patient

A 56 years old patient with histologically confirmed pancreatic cancer progressed beyond the standard surgical capabilities, has been admitted to the “Saint Marina” HIFU Center in a poor general condition. The patient has suffered intolerable abdominal pain accompanied by nausea and vomiting, although there was no clinical or instrumental indication of duodenal obstruction by the tumor. In such condition the patient has been unable to start chemotherapy. She assessed her quality of life as extremely poor (1 out of 7). After 600 seconds of HIFU ablation the pain disappeared. The patient resumed normal food and liquids intake. In just 10 days after the treatment she defined her quality of life as 5 out of 7.
