67 years old patient

A 67 years old patient with inoperable pancreatic cancer, currently undergoing chemotherapy with intense pain that is only alleviated by morphine derives (100-140mg daily) is admitted for HIFU treatment. 48 hours after the procedure the patient had an abstinence crisis. The pain, which he assessed as 9 out of 10, has completely disappeared after 1250 seconds of ablation. During his recovery after the procedure, he felt no need to use any pain medication whatsoever! After 6 months of the HIFU-treatment the patient reports a very good quality of life with no need to use morphine.
